*grumbles* Because I hate being called a liar, and I was called on by a friend who is about to lose that privilage unless she stops being a cow to 'prove it'! What is this about? Writing, of course. I have to admit that my creative drive has been focusing more on my original novel, still in the works, for the last couple of months, and I've barely managed more than a few sentences in that time on my fanfiction. But I do have moments of... genius? Insanity? Let's just say it's inspiration and leave the judgement to the readers, then. This is a snippet of an idea that ran around my head for a while, and I only wrote to really get off the topic of it. I still enjoy Harry Potter fiction, when I can find the good ones, and I still enjoy writing for the series, despite the lack of progress lately. What really made me drop this idea like a bag of garbage was the vampire aspect it has. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy a good vampire novel, but lately it's been run into the ground and I really don't feel like putting the effort into a story just to have it lost in the mass of vampire-centered fics out there. I haven't abandoned this idea, per se, it's more sitting on the shelf with my folder of jolted down notes about directions the story could end up taking. BUT, to prove that I have been writing, I shall post the segment I have on the computer and see how it fares. ( In Shadows Bound, a Harry Potter fic )See? Written. Not much, probably will be a long time before it's continued on, but it's something. So there, Lee, get offa my back and you can explain why I'm avoiding my IMs! Nag! Have you ever ruined the ending or given away plot developments in a book, movie, or tv show by telling someone who hasn't seen or read it what happens? Has anyone ever done this to you?Yes. *stares off into direction of Britain* Lee Shiro, the brat, was online after I bought the 5th Harry Potter book. I told her I had just got it, and she immediately told me the end. Apparently we lost translation between buying it and having read it. I tried to read it, but only got about three chapters in before I realized I couldn't enjoy it anymore. So, even though I have the whole collection, I haven't gotten any further than the 5th book because of her. I'm hoping that eventually I'll catch enough of the bug again to pick it up and finish it, and then move on to the rest of the books. Yes, she has apologized, but there are some words one can't just take back, and that includes the end of a book! I got even with her, though. *evil grins* Tags: writer's block at the moment: feeding fish feeling: annoyed listening to: ~ damien rice ~ .:: cold water ::.

I'm not sure which is more true for me: "If I didn't have bad luck, I'd have no luck at all," or "My luck is always in, and it's always bad." Either one would be pretty accurate. I've been trying for MONTHS to see my new neurologist, and the night before I go to see him, I nearly KO myself on the window AC unit. Really I was trying to slip between the wall and my mom's bed to grab the heating pad that slipped between the two, and my stubborn, fat-butt cat wouldn't move. I was trying to be nice by working around her, but when she lifted her butt to my face, I naturally started to move away as well. Then... BAM! I don't really remember much, but from what I gather I held my head and wobbled my way to the couch to sit down before I landed on the floor. I think I was in that lovely ding-dong-filled limbo for ten minutes or so. I have a nice cut on my hairline (and I had to take a shower today so that hurt like hell) and a bruise that, as usual for me, won't show any discoloration but is sensitive to the slightest touch. So, when the nurse asked me if I had a headache at the moment, I looked at her and said, "Well, yeah, pretty much." because I had just finished telling her that I hit my head the night before. Doesn't listen, does she? The doctor was really cool, but I think I had a slight concussion or something because he had one of those "Hum~m" reactions after making me do an exercise with my eyes. Or maybe it was the headache, I can never distinguish those doctor noises. When he started talking about different options I had available to nip my migraines in the bud, he drew diagrams. Of sticking a needle in my head. All my friends can tell you I have a severe needle phobia. It takes me a few days to gather up my courage to go in for bloodwork and I'll avoid the ER until it's been a week of a lvl 10 migraine. Having it dumped on me... doesn't work well. And I also learned that day that the doctor doesn't know how to handle someone having a panic attack. He high-tailed it out of there and scheduled another appointment for later so we can discuss other options. Needle-less options. Once I was no longer in danger of hyperventilating, I agreed. This was also after I had that diagram erased. I guess my mom felt bad for me because we ate out and she let me buy a shiz-load of candy, despite my sizable stash at home. I was tempted to push my luck and ask to go to Borders, but it was 5pm traffic and we had already nearly been rear-ended by some racers. BTW, leilany, pcan, surasha? PM me at the earliest convenience? It has to do with that SOS I sent you guys via YLPD. 'Cuz I'm really chasin' my tail here. Vampires or Werewolves?Ooh, this is a tricky one. Vampires have always held a certain appeal to me, and I mean before Bela Lugosi and Brad Pitt. I remember watching Nosferatu and that has always been my first idea of a vampire way before the silver screen and Bram Stroker romanticized them. The pop culture of vampires is appealing though, and I cannot deny having a taste for blood, but it isn't enough for the label 'sanguinarian'. I also very much enjoy the White Wolf novels and games for vampires because they usually like to take a different spin on things while remaining true to certain aspects as much as possible.
However, when it's all said and done, my heroes have always been the werewolves. Long before they were ostricized in mythologies, they were usually either seen as people suffering from some witchcraft or illness, or that it was simply an aspect of them that was as normal as being born with different eye color. There were a few less kind tales, but those usually had to do with murder and cannibalism or angering a deity. And we can't forget my favorite 'lycanthrope' of all time, Prince Vseslav of Polotsk.
I could actually go on about this, but it's too early in the morning (with too little coffee in my mug >x<) to really wax ideologies and chatter like a magpie about the topic. It was a great two week discussion in our mythology class that the teacher greatly enjoyed encouraging. And because I've been cruising other journals and basically slacking... :: QUIZZES::
